Filming initial reaction (Friday 25th January 2014)

On Friday the 25th of January we filmed our Thriller Opening Sequence, I was apprehensive to begin with, as I didn't know whether the wedding dress would look okay on our actress. Immediately we encountered problems with the make up for our actress, we were aiming to use bruising make up to indicate signs of a struggle, and suggest that our villain would be a violent and dangerous character. However when we went to ask fro some make up there was none in the office, therefore we have to improvise and use eye shadow in patches on the actress's face to give the bruising effect. We also needed to make the dress dirty, to indicate signs of struggle, so we went outside to find some dirt we could use, however the ground was frozen so we needed hot water to melt it.

After all the preparations were done we started filming. I feel that the filming went well, the coffin we used was perfect for the situation our protagonist was in. I also felt that the actress we chose was perfect for the part, and she performed very well. Overall I feel that the filming was a success, and I am very happy with our results having watched them through.

Shot List and Scene Outline

Our Scene revolves around a girl who has been kidnapped and buried alive inside a coffin. After waking from being drugged, the protagonist slowly begins to realize that she's been buried, as dirt begins to seep through some holes in the coffin. Plus, she notices that a timer has been attached to the coffin, which counts down, and panics her even further.
(As we only need the studio for filming, all shots will be done in one location.)

Location

We are aiming to film in the media studio at Hurtwood and at the Peaslake graveyard. The only issue I can see with each of the locations is filming in the graveyard

Costumes for our Thriller

As we only require one actress, the only costume we need is a dirty, torn, wedding dress. This should be fairly easy to acquire as we already have a few options. Websites like Amazon and eBay sell cheap wedding dresses that we could use, however, we don't want to spend too much money on the dress as it will be ruined by the end of the filming. If we do order from the internet, then the delivery times will have to be within the next few days to arrive in time. If we do not manage to order a dress in time, Claudia has an old whit dress at home that she does not wear, so we will use that if we can't acquire a wedding dress. We are aiming spend no more than £50 on the dress and postage, we feel that our choices from Missguided and eBay are the best value for money, and also are most likely to arrive in time for the 23rd.
We feel that the wedding dress is an ideal costume to have as it emphasis the surreal nature of the event, while also connoting that if the offender has developed a style to his crime, then he has most likely committed a similar action before. We feel this extenuates the thrilling nature of our sequence, as the audience want the girl to escape the coffin and catch the offender.

After searching for a wedding dress in various shops in London and Guildford, we decided that the internet would be the best chance of finding an affordable dress, and after looking on Amazon, we found this dress for £30.

We decided that the long sleeves looked best for our piece, as it looked traditional, and the price of the dress meant that we could experiment with dirt and bloodstains to create a roughed up look.
